Work in Progress Takes Time (working title) explores the American landscape for signs and markers that express intention, hope, failure, and what is reflected in the landscape as monuments to these ideas. Looking at these images, and coming upon these places, I see the reflection of daily life and ideology, whether religious, patriotic, poetic, or a reflection of daily passage-what is held dear and what is left behind. Aspects of our contemporary existence and humanity, sometimes fraught, and constantly in development and flux, are indicated in this developing body of work. I am drawn to the attempts and the failures reflected in these images, and the ways individuals reveal themselves through the spaces they inhabit, often sending signs and messages to the rest of us.
